This course is designed to introduce the student to the fundamentals of Information Systems. The course provides an overview of the various building blocks of an Information Systems. These blocks consists of the general overview of Information Systems including the benefits of having Information systems and good quality data in a business and the difference between information systems and technology. The rest of the readings will provide a high level overview of the various parts of the Information System in a business. These include the hardware, software and network that connect the system. The database where the information will be stored is also discussed as well as the different database applications that will be beneficial to a business. The course aims to assist anyone that would like to broaden their general knowledge about what Information Systems in a business entails.
