RCL Foods began as the holding company of Rainbow and Vector. As part of RCL Foods’ strategic focus on building a diversified food business of scale with compelling consumer brands in sub-Saharan Africa, the Group acquired Foodcorp and has partnered withZambeef Products PLC of Zambia in respect of a Zambian chicken broiler business (Zam Chick Limited) and the establishment of a broiler parent stock rearing, laying and hatching operation (Zamhatch Limited).

On 16 August 2013 the name of the company was changed from “Rainbow Chicken Limited” to “RCL Foods Limited”. The reason for the change is that, post completion of the acquisition of Foodcorp, the new name better reflects the Group’s strategic vision of adding value to consumers and customers through our range of market leading brands (beyond chicken). In January 2014, RCL Foods acquired TSB Sugar – providing a unique opportunity to diversify across the food industry value chain.
