Job Title: Accountant

Location: Sandton, Johannesburg
Job Type: Full-Time

A reputable firm based in Sandton is seeking a qualified Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have completed 3 years of articles and have at least 2 years of post-articles experience in an accounting or auditing environment. Candidates must be SAICA or SAIPA registered and possess strong technical and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements
• Perform reconciliations (bank, creditors, debtors, intercompany, etc.)
• Manage general ledger and journal entries
• Process VAT, PAYE, and other SARS submissions
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Review and supervise junior finance staff where applicable
• Prepare reports for management and stakeholders

Minimum Requirements:

• Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles (3 years)
• At least 2 years post-articles experience in an Accounting or Auditing role
• Degree in Accounting or Auditing (BCOM or equivalent)
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, Pastel, Xero, Sage, or similar)
• Excellent knowledge of IFRS and tax regulations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Advantages:

• Registered Professional Accountant (SAIPA) or Chartered Accountant (SAICA)
• Experience in a firm or consulting environment
• Exposure to multiple industries or clients
• Strong Excel skills and experience with cloud-based accounting systems
