A defence company in Centurion is seeking an R&D Mechanical Design Engineer.

As we continue to expand our research and development team, we are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Mechanical R&D Design Engineer to join us in our mission to create exceptional products.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for new products, with a strong focus on R&D activities.
Perform detailed design analysis and simulations using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, and Autodesk Inventor).
Conduct product testing, validation, and prototyping to ensure design feasibility, safety, and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineers, Product Managers, and manufacturers to ensure that designs meet all technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Evaluate and select materials, processes, and technologies for prototypes and production components.
Manage design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
Analyze and resolve design-related issues and propose effective solutions.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design and development processes within the R&D department.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in mechanical design and R&D, ideally within the automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics industry.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, and Creo).
Strong understanding of material science, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle.
Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills to present technical data and collaborate with teams.
Experience with FEA, CFD, or other engineering simulations is a plus.
