Job Duties:

Financial Reconciliation & Closeout

• Verify and reconcile approved Capital Budgets against project expenses before issuing purchase requisitions.
• Ensure all final invoices, commitments, and obligations are accounted for before project closure.
• Facilitate the financial closeout of capital projects, ensuring compliance with governance requirements.
• Ensure accurate recording and allocation of actual costs for cost reporting purposes.

Cost Control & Budget Oversight

• Monitor and track project expenditures against budget allocations, identifying and mitigating cost overruns.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and financial forecasts.
• Expedite and ensure timeous payment of invoices, resolving any discrepancies in purchase orders and payments.
• Ensure compliance with budget limits, approvals, and financial governance policies.

Invoice Processing & Payment Approvals

• Generate and compare SAP financial reports, ensuring accuracy in:
• Vendor invoice forecasting vs. actual payments.
• Invoice payment schedule forecasts, coordinating updates with vendors.
• Process and track invoices through SAP, ensuring all supporting documentation is correctly verified and attached.
• Facilitate final account settlements and purchase order closeout upon project completion.
• Expedite orders into SAP, ensuring all invoices are correctly loaded and payments processed within deadlines.

Financial Governance & Compliance

• Ensure alignment with financial policies, audit requirements, and tax regulations.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing financial documentation and reconciliations.
• Manage project-related fund transfers and budget adjustments based on approved change requests.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Cost Engineers, and Finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Provide regular financial updates to senior management on project closeout status, cost performance, and risks.
• Assist in refining and improving financial processes and reporting structures for future projects.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in project accounting role

Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Proven experience in project accounting within the mining industry
• Strong knowledge of financial principles and practises
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
