Objective:
The Head of Robotics & Coding will be responsible for developing and implementing a cutting-edge curriculum that equips learners with technical skills in robotics, coding, AI, and problem-solving. This role requires collaboration with the Mathematics & Science Department to integrate STEM principles and the Personal Development Department to ensure learners develop essential soft skills, adaptability, and resilience. Additionally, the individual must work with accreditation bodies to secure certifications, ensuring that the curriculum meets SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) standards and is recognized by institutions such as MICT SETA, QCTO, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, or Cisco.

Candidate Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development & Accreditation
- Design and implement a comprehensive Robotics & Coding curriculum that meets national (SAQA) and international standards.
Work with accreditation bodies such as:
MICT SETA and QCTO (for ICT skills accreditation)
- Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, AWS etc (for industry-recognized certifications in IT and programming)
- Ensure that learners can receive certifications upon course completion.
- Integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts into the curriculum.
- Ensure alignment with STEM education frameworks and best practices.
2. Robotics & Coding Training
- Develop hands-on robotics projects and coding workshops to enhance problem-solving and innovation.
- Teach coding languages such as Python, Java, and Scratch, adapting lessons to different skill levels. (These languages are examples and can be amended based on their recommendation)
- Introduce robotics competitions, hackathons, and team-based problem-solving challenges.
- Ensure students work on real-world applications of robotics, automation, and AI.
3. Collaboration with Other Departments
- Work closely with the Mathematics & Science Department to align coding and robotics lessons with STEM principles.
- Partner with the Personal Development Department to ensure students develop critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, and adaptability.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to schedule lessons, events, and certification assessments.
4. Innovation & Out-of-the-Box Thinking
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in robotics, AI, and coding to enhance the learning experience.
- Foster a culture of creativity and innovation by encouraging students to design and develop new robotic solutions.
- Incorporate gamification, interactive simulations, and real-world problem-solving into lessons.
5. Industry Partnerships & External Engagement
- Establish partnerships with tech companies, universities, and industry leaders to provide mentorship, internships, and real-world projects.
- Organize guest lectures and industry talks to expose learners to career opportunities in technology and engineering.
- Ensure that learners have access to cutting-edge resources, robotics kits, and software platforms.
6. Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track student progress and performance through assessments, projects, and competitions.
- Use data-driven insights to refine the curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Prepare reports on curriculum effectiveness and student success rates.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Robotics, IT Education, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in coding, robotics, or STEM education.
- Proven track record in curriculum development and working with accreditation bodies.
- Experience working with institutions that provide certifications, such as QCTO, MICT SETA, Microsoft, Oracle, AWS or Cisco.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scratch, and AI/ML tools.
- Hands-on experience with robotics platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LEGO Mindstorms, etc.).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, creativity, and communication skills.
- Ability to think outside the box and develop innovative learning strategies.
- Passion for STEM education and empowering young girls in technology.
