Hire Resolve's client is seeking a dedicated Junior Safety Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with South African Health and Safety regulations, enforce safety policies, and proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards. This role requires both field and office-based work, with a strong emphasis on maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
• Implement and enforce Health and Safety procedures.
• Identify potential workplace hazards and risks.
• Investigate and report workplace incidents.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
• Conduct safety training and inductions for employees.
• Monitor and update OHS policies and procedures.
• Oversee proper storage and use of safety equipment.
• Support waste management compliance and major hazardous installations (MHI).
• Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Ensure adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Assist with the preparation and management of Health and Safety files.
• Maintain communication with team members and management on safety matters.

Requirements

• Education: Matric (mandatory).
• Qualifications: SAMTRAC / NEBOSH or equivalent safety certification.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) within operations, maintenance, or construction.
• Registration: SACPCMP or equivalent health and safety body (advantageous).
• Skills:
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (advantageous).
  • Understanding of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) regulations.
  • Familiarity with QMS (Quality Management Systems).
