We are currently assisting one of our esteemed property clients in their search for a dedicated and detail-oriented Utilities Accountant. The ideal candidate will hold an Accounting qualification and have at least 3 years of experience in an accounting role. This position involves processing and reconciling COJ and Eskom accounts, managing utility charge schedules, and addressing queries related to incorrect charges. The successful candidate will work closely with vendors, ensure the accurate billing and refund process, and maintain schedules for deposits and refunds. Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse utility bills are essential.

In addition to these core duties, the Utilities Accountant will assist with budgeting and forecasting for utilities, perform monthly supplier reconciliations, and provide feedback on management account variances. The role requires a critical mindset to identify unusual consumption patterns and ensure optimum payment dates to avoid penalties.
