Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pretoria. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role requires a deep understanding of systems architecture, cloud technologies, and network management, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a similar role.
Certifications (Preferred):
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- ITIL Certification
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting complex IT systems.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
- Solid understanding of network protocols and security best practices.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Technical Stack:

Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat), Windows Server
Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes
Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, load balancers
Scripting & Automation: Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform
Monitoring Tools: Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana
Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Security Tools: SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, vulnerability scanners

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Implementation: Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure IT systems, including servers, networks, and cloud-based solutions.
System Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
Security Management: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect systems and data from cyber threats.
Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline system administration tasks and improve efficiency.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Developers, Network Engineers, and security specialists, to deliver integrated solutions.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Disaster Recovery: Design and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support and mentorship to junior team members.
