Title: Cashier (permanent position)

Description

Cashier needed for a fabric retail business in Somerset West; manual entries on cash registers with the transition to digital point of sale next year. 

Responsibilities include:

• Processing sales transactions using a cash register

• Check transaction by counting and weighing items, bag and greet customers

• Enter quantities and pricing of goods ensuring pricing is accurate

• Taking various payment options from customers

• Till float counting and end-of-day closing up 

• Checking customer loyalty status, resolve customer queries and escalations to management on exceptions 

• Sales assistance when approached by a customer, guide them where required, and 

• Light duty pricing tasks for various departments

We are looking for a Cashier to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience as a cashier, in a customer service position and good knowledge of how cash registers operate. You should also be available to work retail hours weekly and occasional public holidays. 

Requirements and skills

• Fluent in English and Afrikaans

• Work experience as a Retail Cashier or in a similar role in sales assistance

• Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS; have basic computer literacy

• Good math skills

• Strong communication and time management skills

• Well presented, customer satisfaction-oriented

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent

• Live within 25km from job

• Clear criminal record

• Work retail hours (8-5pm) including Saturdays (8-2pm)
