The Assistant Warehouse Manager will play a critical role in supporting the Warehouse Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse. You will help ensure inventory accuracy, optimize operational workflows, and maintain safety standards. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Warehouse Operations Support:

    • Assist in overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring smooth and efficient processing of orders.

    • Supervise warehouse staff, providing direction, guidance, and training as needed.

    • Coordinate the unloading, checking, and storing of incoming goods.

    • Support the picking, packing, and dispatching of orders, ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

  2. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor stock levels and assist in stock audits to maintain accurate inventory records.

    • Implement inventory control processes to minimize discrepancies and losses.

  1. Process Improvement & Optimization:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance the customer experience.

    • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse tasks and workflows.

    • Ensure all warehouse tasks comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

  2. Team Leadership & Training:

    • Supervise, motivate, and train warehouse staff to ensure high performance.

    • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the warehouse team and other departments.

    • Help resolve conflicts or performance issues among team members.

  3. Health and Safety Compliance:

    • Ensure that warehouse operations adhere to safety regulations and health standards.

    • Conduct regular safety checks and training to minimize accidents and injuries in the warehouse.

  4. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Assist in maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, orders, and shipments.

    • Prepare and present operational reports, highlighting areas of improvement, challenges, and achievements.

Required Skills

  • Inventory Management: 2 to 3 years
  • Leadership Skills: 1 to 2 years
  • Warehousing Experience: 2 to 3 years

Candidate Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a similar role, ideally in an eCommerce environment.

    • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.

    • Tertiary education.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Preferably proficient with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

  • Organizational Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

  • Communication & Leadership:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Experience managing or leading a team, with the ability to motivate and provide constructive feedback.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg) regularly.

    • Comfortability working on your feet for extended periods.

    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed for stock take etc.
