Main Purpose
The role of the Content Creator is to create industry related, original articles for media update, as well as blog and social posts for Newsclip and affiliate brands.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
OPERATIONAL EXECUTION
Content Creation
- Create original content for media update.
- Identify topics of interest for media update articles, Q&As and social posts.
- Interview various sources and contacts to gather information for original stories and Q&A’s.
- Create articles in various formats such as long and short form written content, quote
- images, infographics and videos.
- Identify blog topics for Newsclip and the affiliate brands by engaging with the relevant stakeholders.
- Write social media posts that accompany original content and blogs for the assigned social platforms.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure that spelling, grammar and punctuation is of good quality.
- Efficiently make use of the Dash in order to upload original content, images and embed media links.
- Make use of graphic software to create engaging visual content.
- Use analytics resources for the media update.
ADMINISTRATION
- Effectively make use of project management tools such as Asana and Workflow.
- Populate the relevant content calendars with content categories, article titles and relevant deadlines.
- Assist with ad hoc team administration tasks, when required.
- Keep up with local and international trends in media, marketing, public relations, and social media.
- Research relevant and trending topics to identify areas of interest for readers.
- Ensure the credibility of different sources and list sources.
COMMUNICATION
- Communicate ideas with the team and participate in brainstorming sessions.
- Attend weekly meetings with media update and all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication on a regular basis, on the various communication platforms.
- Communicate with Newsclip and affiliate brands for information regarding blogs and social media posts.
- Liaise with the Development teams to ensure all technical queries are resolved.
- Communicate with PR agencies regarding potential interviews and events.
- Attend relevant industry events, as necessary.
Candidate Requirements
EDUCATION
- Completed degree in a relevant field of studies (Languages, Communication, Journalism, or Creative writing).
- Post graduate qualifications in a similar field would be preferable.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 – 5 years’ experience of writing in the fields of journalism and creative writing.
COMPETENCIES
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to convey messages in a creative manner.
- Ability to manage and coordinate deadlines and projects.
- Effective and efficient written and verbal communication.
