IVANHOE MINES Exploration is a company operating in the Congolese mining sector, with offices in Kolwezi (Province of Haut-Katanga) and the City-Province of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (hereinafter the “DRC”). IME is inviting qualified candidates, both male and female, who are interested in this position. The place of work will be located in Kolwezi.
Play your part in our team succeeding...To collect, process and interpret geological data relevant to the mineral assets of the company. To participate in managing drilling rigs/drilling contractors and upskill junior staff and assistants.

You will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Mining Geology/Exploration Geology
- 5 years’ experience in exploration geology.
- Experience in Copper exploration /mining environment.
- Fluency in French and English preferred.
- Conversant in database use and collecting data in uniform formats.
- Data analysis and statistical skills.
- Advanced computer and reporting skills. Employee shall be proficient in the following applications; MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
- Ability to identify fundamental rock forming and economic minerals.
- Advanced rock identification and mapping skills and ability to produce a geological map.
- Employee must be proficient in the use of hand-held GPS systems.
- Drilling program management of both RC and diamond. Lining up a rig, checking sites for compliance and correct layout checking access for suitability.
- Work in remote locations with fly camp accommodation.
- Employee shall be required to become proficient in the following within the first year of employment:
- ArcGIS-Pro, Leapfrog, other application as specified.
- Ability to understand Western Foreland specific mineralisation controls and use that information to develop targets.
- Geological logging
- Drill rig management
- Geological interpretation
- Driving license (essential)
