Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable Semi-Skilled Technician to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will assist in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the smooth operation of machinery in a fast-paced industrial environment. The role involves supporting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general upkeep of equipment such as conveyors, motors, compressors, and refrigeration systems. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with basic technical knowledge and a willingness to learn and grow in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance & Repairs:
   
   • Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including conveyors, motors, compressors, and HVAC systems.
   • Support troubleshooting and basic repairs of mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
   • Carry out general maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of simple machine components.
   • Help maintain refrigeration systems to support product quality.
   • Assist with the repair and servicing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems under supervision.
2. Safety & Compliance:
   
   • Adhere to all safety guidelines and assist in identifying and reporting hazards.
   • Ensure all work complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
   • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities for compliance and audit purposes.
3. Support & Optimization:
   
   • Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment as directed.
   • Provide hands-on assistance during equipment operation to support production teams.
   • Suggest basic maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications:

1. Education:
   
   • Grade 12 or equivalent.
   • Certificate in a mechanical or electrical trade (advantageous but not mandatory).
2. Experience:
   
   • 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a food processing or industrial environment.
3. Skills:
   
   • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, conveyors).
   • Familiarity with electrical systems, including motors and wiring (basic).
   • Willingness to learn maintenance management software.
4. Other Requirements:
   
   • Ability to work in cold and wet conditions.
   • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
   • Valid driver’s license (advantageous).
