Our client in the shipping industry is seeking an experienced and results-driven Branch Manager to lead their Cape Town operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to bring their expertise in shipping and logistics to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, driving growth and ensuring operational excellence while maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership:
• Oversee the Cape Town branch, contributing to the strategic direction of the organization.
• Implement innovative strategies to differentiate the company and enhance service delivery.
• Optimize revenue generation and ensure cost-efficient operations.
Customer Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain relationships with key importers, exporters, and other stakeholders.
• Support sales teams in customer engagement and satisfaction initiatives.
• Conduct regular customer visits and maintain accurate CRM records.
• Engage with reefer customers to understand and meet their specific logistics needs.
Operational Excellence:
• Monitor export-booking performance and ensure optimal slot utilization.
• Oversee equipment supply, claims resolution, and vessel operations.
• Maintain high productivity and service standards across all operational activities.
Refrigerated Cargo Focus:
• Act as the primary contact for reefer customers, ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution.
• Provide consultative support and insights on cargo care and shipping solutions.
• Identify opportunities to upsell value-added services and strengthen partnerships.
• Gather customer feedback and monitor market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Team Management:
• Lead and manage branch staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws and company procedures.
• Promote professional growth and development within the team.
Marketing and Reporting:
• Oversee branch-level marketing, import, export, and operational activities.
• Prepare and submit detailed performance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Required Skills
- Customer Service: 10 years or more
- Management: 10 years or more
- Shipping Systems: 10 years or more
Candidate Requirements
• Extensive knowledge of the shipping industry, with at least 10-15 years of management experience.
• High-level expertise in customer service, sales, operations, and freight management.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and inspire teams.
• Proficient in computer systems and software relevant to the shipping industry.
• Comprehensive understanding of the reefer industry, including temperature-sensitive logistics.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.
