Job Description:
This role focuses on academic leadership and programme coordination within the Faculty of Education. The Lecturer and Programme Coordinator will oversee the design, delivery, and review of academic programmes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with industry needs. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, academic governance, and fostering student success through mentorship and support.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Education, specializing in foundational or early childhood teaching.
SACE registration (mandatory).
1-3 years of lecturing experience in higher education, specifically in Grade R or foundational phase teaching.
Strong leadership, curriculum development, and programme coordination skills.
Proficiency in educational technology and research.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Education (advantageous).
Experience in distance learning and academic leadership.
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to integrate research into teaching and curriculum design.
Commitment to fostering student success and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Coordination
Design, develop, and review academic programmes in line with national standards and industry relevance.
Ensure programme quality through regular reviews and stakeholder collaboration.
Manage Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) components, including placement coordination and process integrity.
Teaching and Learning
Deliver high-quality lectures and tutorials using innovative teaching methods.
Develop engaging course materials and provide academic support through consultations.
Mentor students, offering guidance on research and professional development.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments.
Academic Administration
Oversee student records, registration, and graduation processes.
Coordinate with administrative teams to ensure efficient programme delivery.
Research
Conduct and publish research in the relevant field, integrating findings into teaching.
Supervise postgraduate student research where applicable.
Staff Training and Development
Identify training needs and deliver workshops for academic staff.
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practices.
Leadership and Faculty Management
Participate in academic governance and contribute to faculty strategy development.
Support faculty staff to ensure cohesive team dynamics and effective collaboration.
Student Engagement
Provide academic support through consultations and mentorship.
Implement initiatives for at-risk students and foster a supportive learning environment.
Independent Contractor Management
Recruit, manage, and evaluate sessional lecturers and independent contractors.
Provide training and ensure their alignment with academic standards.
Examination and Assessment Management
Plan and oversee examinations and assessments, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes.
Maintain assessment integrity and oversee moderation processes.
