Employer: Motor Industry Fund Administrators
JOB PURPOSE
To provide expert legal advice on all legal, regulatory, and compliance aspects for the organization, ensuring that the organization's interests are protected against legal risks. This role contributes to management by identifying and mitigating legal risks across the business. It also involves providing accurate, expert, and specialized legal advice on legal and regulatory matters in line with relevant practices, procedures, and regulations. The role serves as a key point of contact for the business team, responsible for proactive legal advice, support, and risk management.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Contract Management and Review of Legal Documents and Policies
· Draft and review contracts, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
· Professionally negotiate or vet contracts and SLAs to safeguard the rights and interests of MIFA.
· Assess and discuss the risk impacts of specific terms.
· Provide legal advice on completed or prospective transactions.
· Review, comment on, and advise regarding legal due diligence.
· Maintain updated records of all MIFA contracts, ensuring they are safeguarded appropriately.
· Assist in structuring, negotiating, drafting, and vetting legal agreements and documentation for new and standard agreements.
Management and Legal Risks
· Develop and maintain processes to monitor compliance with regulatory requirements (PFA, FSCA, fund rules).
· Foster understanding of legal issues through advice, training, and communication.
· Ensure proactive monitoring and compliance with the legal risk control framework.
· Identify opportunities to strengthen the legal risk control framework through process improvements.
Litigation
· Manage legal actions/litigation in a timely manner, with a focus on cost and reputation.
· Brief external legal advisors with clear scope and terms of reference.
· Attend court or tribunal hearings as required.
Dispute and Query Resolution
· Manage disputes in accordance with MIFA policies and legislative frameworks.
· Represent the employer at dispute resolution forums (e.g., CCMA) where necessary.
· Address and resolve whistleblower queries and escalated Section 14 issues promptly.
Stakeholder Management
· Provide quality legal advice and support to internal stakeholders to minimize risks.
· Educate stakeholders on legislative changes affecting MIFA.
· Represent MIFA in industry forums and external meetings with suppliers or attorneys.
Required Skills

Candidate Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· LLB degree.
· Admitted Attorney or Advocate.
· CCMA Commissioners Course (advantageous).
· Minimum 8 years of post-admission experience.
· Proficiency in case management, litigation, and conducting legal research.
