Senior Career Services Officer (Job Level 9)

The Stellenbosch Business School at Stellenbosch University (SU) is currently seeking a senior career services officer. The primary purpose of this position is the delivery, enhancement, and innovation of career services. This role demands a combination of creative, organisational and project management skills to take ownership of events, marketing, and user experience across the digital channels and customer touchpoints; to set and drive career service plans independently with minimal manager supervision; and to take ownership of career services projects end-to-end where required.
We are seeking a highly skilled, dynamic senior career services officer who can operate with high degrees of thinking complexity and reporting to the Head of Career Leadership with a passion and keen focus on career services to join the Stellenbosch Business School. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the overall career services value offering, both digital and face-to-face. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to provide a professional and innovative career services; partner with internal marketing to grow the career leadership brand; operational and financial administration and opportunity engagements, especially working with partners globally and locally.
Duties:
Career Service Innovation
• Proactively determining the career services’ yearly event calendar.
• Enhancing both digital and face-to-face engagement of career services.
• Enhancing client and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Enhancing the Career Leadership brand awareness.
• Conducting career services student needs analyses.
• Optimising the career services websites, portals, and platforms in collaboration with internal and external information technology partners.
Operational Administration
• Executing the budget against pre-determined objectives.
• Performing financial administration.
• Overseeing the enhancements on the website career portals and platforms.
• Improving career services workflows.
• Career services data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
Opportunities Engagement
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Building industry networks and partnerships to establish career opportunities.
• Enhancing external/internal stakeholder management and engagement.
• Liaising with internal marketing to develop appropriate career services’ marketing artefacts for career fairs, events, webinars, and seminars.
• Taking full ownership of the career services event calendar.
• Planning and executing career leadership marketing, advertising, and communications on various digital platforms.

Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
• A postgraduate qualification in the social and behavioural sciences (honours in industrial psychology or human resources management, or a related postgraduate diploma in a related field), with at least five years’ work experience in talent management / development and / or related fields in career services.
• The ability to work in a diverse and complex institutional environment to communicate and justify career service decisions within the limits of discretion.
• The ability to reflect on career services decisions, processes and to make adjustments for positive impact and to contain potential adverse effects to students, staff and alumni.
• The ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, both globally and locally.
• The ability to work with digital technologies (social media, websites, career platforms, and various applications in the MS Office 365 suite).
• The ability to plan, organise, and use own initiative in organising events and to prioritise and meet own project deadlines.
• The ability to work with budgets, financial processes, platforms and systems.
• Knowledge of marketing, branding, and communications to increase the career leadership brand.
• High analytical, innovative, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to establish rapport and build credibility at all levels.
• Acting with ethics and integrity in all interactions.
• The ability to relate and network with external and internal stakeholders.
• The ability to work under pressure and manage ambiguity.
• The ability to focus on a wide range of career services projects simultaneously.
• Deciding and taking initiative and ensuring that plans are organised and actioned.

• Strong influencing, facilitation and coaching skills for helping students, staff and alumni on the career portal and platform workflows.
• The ability to apply expertise and technology.
• Presenting career services’ information to stakeholders (students, staff and alumni) that is contextually relevant.
• Providing strategic inputs, and making recommendations and adjustments for operational delivery.
