We have a client with an amazing opportunity based in Johannesburg - Northern Suburbs, Gauteng

Role: Principal Tailings Dam Breach Engineer

Industry: Environmental Engineering / Geotechnical

Level: Senior / Principal

Key Requirements:

•           Civil Engineering or equivalent international undergraduate degree (preferably with a post-graduate qualification) with a specialty in water engineering, soil mechanics, or mineral residue design and management

•           Registered Professional Engineer (with professional associations such as ECSA, UK, USA, Canada, or Australia)

•           Minimum of 15 years’ experience, with at least 8 years in consulting related to mineral residue deposits

•           Extensive experience in tailings dam breach analysis, inundation studies, soil mechanics, and tailings engineering projects

•           A strong working knowledge of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), international standards, and the SANS 10286

•           Post-graduate studies in water engineering would be advantageous

•           Strong geotechnical knowledge to evaluate the engineering properties and in situ conditions of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs)

•           Ability to take on Engineer of Record roles during the construction, operation, decommissioning, and closure of TSFs
