Role Intent
- To provide essential support to the Inventory Controller and Supply Chain Manager by managing daily inventory activities, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining compliance with inventory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards and promote world class practices.
Responsibilities
Daily Inventory Operations:
Receiving Activities:
- Assist in the physical receipt of goods, ensuring quantities match delivery documentation (e.g., invoices or packing slips).
- Conduct quality checks on incoming inventory and report any discrepancies or damage to the Inventory Controller.
- Update inventory systems promptly with received items.
Issuing Activities:
- Process requests for inventory issuance to operational teams in a timely
- manner.
- Prepare materials for distribution and ensure accurate recording of issued
- items in the system.
- Monitor trends in requests to forecast future demand.
Storage and Organisation:
- Maintain proper storage practices, including labelling, categorising, and
- organising items to ensure easy retrieval.
- Regularly review and rotate inventory to avoid obsolescence or expired items.
Inventory Management Support:
- Collaborate with the Inventory Controller to monitor and reconcile stock levels against system records.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full stocktakes, ensuring data accuracy and minimising discrepancies.
- Track inventory turnover and assist in identifying slow-moving or obsolete stock for action planning.
- Provide input on reordering decisions, including optimal reorder quantities and lead times.
Process Compliance and Documentation:
- Adhere to company inventory management policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory records, including receipts, issuances, transfers, and adjustments.
- Support audit activities by providing required documentation and assisting with inventory verification processes.
Communication and Coordination:
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., Supply Chain, Operations, and Procurement) to ensure inventory availability aligns with user needs.
- Proactively address inventory-related inquiries from operational teams.
- Communicate effectively with vendors or logistics partners as required to resolve delivery or quality issues.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Suggest improvements to inventory systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in implementing process changes or new tools under the guidance of the Inventory Controller.
- Stay updated on best practices in inventory management and contribute innovative ideas to optimise stockholding practices
- Promote and adhere to the company’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ,
