Responsibilities and duties:
• Read and interpret drawings and sketches to establish required dimensions to be marked on materials and assembled products.
• Marking off and cutting off materials using the oxy-acetylene cutting torch, plasma torch, angle grinders, guillotines, band saws, pipe cutters, and many other cutting tools and machines;
• Develop, mark out, bend and roll using parallel lines, radial lines, triangulation and spiral developments.
• Preparation of material (pipes and plates) for assembling by rolling, bending, chamfering of weld preps, drilling, and punching.
• Assembling prepared metal components by manual arc welding, and bolting.
• Fabrication, repair and maintenance of steel structures.
• Knowledgeable use of most hand tools, portable power tools, pneumatic tools, pipe and plate bending machines (manual and hydraulic).
