We are looking for a Process Engineer (Water Treatment) to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, optimising, and overseeing processes that ensure the efficient and effective treatment of water and water systems. Your duties will focus on project management, analysing current systems, and improving performance. This position combines technical expertise with problem-solving and a commitment to delivering sustainable and high-quality water treatment solutions.
WUS provides smart, prepaid water meters and alternative water management solutions to residential and commercial developments. We have been active in the Western Cape market for almost 40 years and our goal is to offer sustainable, efficient water utilities, and management services to properties, apartment blocks and new developments in and around Cape Town.
- Borehole Management and Design We provide complete borehole services, including site assessments, design, drilling supervision, testing, and maintenance to ensure sustainable water access.
- Water Use License Management Our experts handle license applications, renewals, amendments, audits, and regulatory compliance to facilitate lawful water use.
- Water Extraction from Aquifers We ensure sustainable aquifer water extraction through hydrogeological assessments, system design, water balance studies, and remote monitoring.
- Treatment Plant Design and Optimization We design and upgrade treatment plants, ensuring optimal water quality with automation, monitoring, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support: Assist with the design, execution, and management of water treatment projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with technical and legislative standards.
- Proposal Development: Assist in preparing detailed project proposals, including technical specifications, cost estimates, and implementation plans.
- Design: Design and optimize purification systems tailored to specific project requirements. Develop operational protocols for purification systems to maintain peak performance.
- Process Design & Improvement: Contribute to process designs, evaluate existing engineering processes, and recommend improvements based on research, data analysis, and industry best practices.
- Water Analysis: Develop and execute water sampling regimes. Prepare detailed water analysis reports. Develop and maintain databases for water quality metrics and trends.
- Research & Development: Collaborate with the team to enhance water treatment strategies, applying innovative solutions and staying updated with the latest technologies.
- Operations Support: Provide operational assistance by assessing equipment, analyzing trends, and presenting data-driven insights to the Operations Manager
Requirements:
- NDip/BTech/BEng Chemical engineering
- Proven experience within a similar role
- Hands-on experience with site inspections, equipment assessment, and system optimization.
Skills and Attributes:
- Process Design & Optimization: Ability to design and improve engineering processes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong skills in analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and identifying root causes.
- Skills in planning, coordinating, and managing projects, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in designing processes, conducting analyses, and documenting results.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently within deadlines.

We offer Barista produced coffee available all day to all our staff at Claremont.
Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45-minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi-time between 07h00 and 18h00.
With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, Faircape offers a market-related salary from R 60 000.00 Cost to Company per month. The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors.
