ENERGY: ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION
PRINCIPAL PROFESSIONAL OFFICER: POWER SYSTEM OPTIMISATION
TCOE SALARY COMMENCING FROM R1,227,099 PER ANNUM ● REF NO: NRG 109/24
Requirements:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering
- Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA
- More than eight (8) years’ experience in a senior technical management position
- Knowledge of energy and capacity markets
- Distributed Energy Resources (DER) / generation resource scheduling, dispatching, operating within an Interconnected Power System.
Key performance areas:
- Manage the professional staff manning the engineering console in the City's Distribution Control Centre (control room)
- Render support and coordination to the control room operations; namely, distribution system grid optimisation, generation optimisation and demand response optimisation, primarily during the peak and standard tariff periods
- Direct and control the professional, technical and operational outcomes associated with the functions related to distribution grid optimisation in compliance with economic and statutory requirements as well as reliability, security and quality of supply to our customers
- Direct and control the professional, technical and operational outcomes associated with the functions related to generation and demand, load forecasting, balancing of supply and demand, by supervising the associated tasks and activities
- Support and advise the contract manager with the technical aspects dealing with generation and operating agreements involving terms and conditions
- Manage the technical aspects of the electricity supply contracts and guiding the drafting of the DER' s operating agreements ensuring contractual terms and conditions are complied with
- As cost centre owner, prepare capital and operating estimates and control expenditure against the approved budget allocations
- Contribute and provide input to the branch and department's business and operational strategies relating to unbundling of the electricity business sector, new technology transforming the grid, the migration to active distribution system operator and business continuity management.
