The primary role is to provide interpretation and translation services required by the Fair Food Program (FFP) during in-person worker education sessions and audit interviews with farmworkers in the agricultural sectors of South Africa. The interpreter must align with the Fair Food Program’s mission of human rights enforcement and be proficient in English and one (preferably more) of the following languages: Xhosa, Setswana, Zulu, and Afrikaans.
DELIVERABLES AND TIMELINES
· December 2024, Translation of KYRR materials and voice-over script (English to Xhosa).
● The applicant will be available for remote vetting by FFP on January 2nd and/or 3rd, 2025, including for language proficiency.
● During the week of January 6th, 2025, FFP will conduct training sessions for selected applicants and distribute orientation materials for review prior to training.
● FFP will notify selected applicants of their arrival dates in South Africa/Western Cape by January 8th, 2025.
● All FFP staff and selected applicants will arrive in South Africa for the first education sessions by January 12th, 2025 at the latest.
● During the week of January 13th, 2025, selected applicants and FFP staff will participate in scheduled audit interviews and education sessions.
● During the week immediately after the audit, selected applicants and FFP staff will have a debrief session on audit findings and schedule follow-up meetings via Zoom if necessary.

Candidate Requirements
● Provide interpretation for in-person education sessions and audit interviews.
● Translation of educational materials.
Additionally, the interpreter will participate in remote training and on-site orientation before education and audit activities, as well as post-education and post-audit debriefs, under the direction of FFP staff. After the in-country visit, the interpreter may be required to support supervisor training, which will be conducted via Zoom.
