Job Summary:
The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for assisting with a variety of accounting tasks, including processing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and providing support for other accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
- Provide support for audits and other accounting activities.
- Assist with employee expense reimbursements.
- Capturing and posting of cash books and petty cash float transactions.
- Reconciliations of cash books and cash floats and also bank statements and accounts balances.
- Loading of payments on banking portal.
- Receipt and banking cash.
- Posting supplier invoices onto the accounting system.
- Capturing sales invoices (accommodation, transfers and tours)
- Follow ups and timely collection of receivables
- Reconciliations of payables and receivables (weekly and monthly)
- Co-ordination of monthly inventory stock counts
- Calculation and posting of monthly inventory movements and usage.
- Primary analysis of causes of variances in usage.
- Review of monthly camp reports from camp managers and Tours supervisor
- Timely communication with suppliers and service providers.
- Response to internal and external queries or requests for accounting information.
- Preparation of any adhoc reports and analyses as may be requested from time to time by the Finance Manager.
- Assist in the month end reporting process to deliver timely and accurate information
- Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or ZICA diploma.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Accounting ERPs.
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards and principles such as International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Cashbook Management.
- Costing and inventory Management.
- Supplier and debtor Management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Numeracy and strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
