We have a client with an amazing opportunity based in Cape Town, Western Cape.

Role: Senior Electrical Engineer

Industry: Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, and Storage)

Level: Senior Engineer

Key Requirements:

•           Qualifications: MSc Engineering or equivalent (PR ENG preferred).

•           Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in the renewable sector.

Technical Competencies:

•           Strong design skills, experience with software such as Digsilent, AutoCAD.

•           Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge contractors and engage with technical stakeholders.

•           Expertise in electrical design, loss calculations, cable sizing, and SCADA specification for renewable energy projects.

•           Experience in project development, feasibility studies, electrical risk analyses, and electrical equipment specification.

•           In-depth knowledge of electrical and SCADA elements for wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities:

•           Lead internal electrical design and optimisation for PV, wind, and BESS projects.

•           Support the development team with electrical infrastructure and environmental approvals.

•           Oversee electrical and SCADA system specifications, ensuring compliance with technical requirements.

•           Conduct site visits, technical due diligence, and feasibility studies for prospective projects.

•           Review and quality control designs and technical submissions from junior engineers and contractors.

•           Manage procurement processes, define scopes, and analyse contractor bids.

•           Provide construction support, including factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).

•           Lead the transverse electrical team and contribute to the development of electrical engineering processes.
