Hire Resolve’s client is looking for a dedicated millwright with a background in the meat industry to join their team in Pietermaritzburg, KZN. The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced individual whose main responsibility will be to install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment on site at the Abattoir, Feedlot and construction sites. The Competent person will in possession of the following:

Responsibilities:

• Act as the GMR2.1 on site and accept responsibility for such appointment.
• Assembling and installing machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly.
• Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations.
• Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime.
• Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
• Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones.
• Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts.
• Ensure that the machinery is operated within its design specifications.
• Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance management programs and ensure the statutory machinery records are kept and maintained.
• Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts.
• Assist with electrical installation on Construction sites.
• Ad hoc duties

Requirements:

• Millwright Trade Qualification
• Registered as an installation electrician
• 5 to 10 years’ proven experience as a fully independent Millwright
• Conversant in English, Afrikaans, and Zulu
• Must be willing to work at our other branches
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge
• Good fault-finding skills
• Batching will be an advantage
• Dependable, Reliable, responsible, and fulfilling obligations

• Analytical thinking – Analysing information and using logic to address work related issues and problems

• Must be willing to work Overtime and Standby duties
• Good general health
• Must be able to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Working in confined spaces and at heights
• Own Transport
• Coal and oil-fired boiler experience
• MV Transformer maintenance experience
• Health and safety
• Be familiar with regulations (electrical machinery, pressure vessel, etc.)
