Job Description:
Design and develop products using 3D and 2D CAE
Ensure compliance with product development SOPs and documentation
Design and manufacture prototypes, jigs, and off-tool samples
Create engineering drawings to meet specifications
Coordinate with production for prototyping and off-tool samples
Fabricate testable models based on approved concepts
Provide specifications and procedures to manufacturing teams, including jig designs
Conduct prototype and off-tool product fitments
Oversee preproduction trials and ensure readiness before handover
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Research and analyze materials, processes, and design factors
Maintain professional communication with external and internal customers
Ensure development stays within budget
Optimize time and resource usage
Accurately capture MRP BOMs for costing and MRP planning
Safeguard company assets and prevent fraud
Promote corporate governance
Apply quality core tools and APQP in product development
Comply with Quality Management System standards
Enforce adherence to SHEQ policies
Address safety and SHEQ issues during product development and handover
Identify and resolve workplace hazards and risks
Use safety equipment and adhere to safety standards
Follow standard operating procedures and applicable legislation
 
Skills & Experience:
Strong sense of urgency in task completion
Excellent communication skills
Highly self-motivated
Creative, "out-of-the-box" critical thinking abilities
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Proficient in identifying, inspecting, using, and maintaining engineering hand tools
Skilled in selecting, using, and maintaining engineering power tools
Knowledge of product and process development
Solid understanding of engineering principles
Awareness of health and safety standards in the manufacturing environment
Proficient in CAE software, preferably Catia V5 or SolidWorks
Strong time management and teamwork abilities
Familiar with quality systems, preferably ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
Excellent attention to detail
 
Minimum requirements
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
CAE software, preferably Catia V5 or SolidWorks
