We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our client. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for leading the purchasing activities of the company, including sourcing and selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and supply chain management within the plastics and packaging industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the company's needs and objectives
• Source new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities and suitability
• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing and terms
• Manage supplier relationships and drive supplier performance improvements
• Monitor market trends and developments to ensure the company remains competitive
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing requirements and provide guidance on procurement best practices
• Oversee the purchasing process from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services
• Develop and implement KPIs to measure and track procurement performance
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the purchasing team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 2 years in a senior buying role
• Experience in the plastics and/or packaging industry
• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and sourcing strategies
• Excellent negotiation skills and a proven track record of achieving cost savings and value-add from supplier contracts
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in using procurement software and tools
• CIPS certification is a plus
