- Designing and engineering mechanical systems for fire suppression, detection, and control in accordance with local, state, and national fire codes and regulations.
- Conducting feasibility studies and assessing the requirements of fire protection systems for various facilities and environments.
- Collaborating with architects, construction teams, and other stakeholders to incorporate fire protection systems into building designs and plans.
- Performing calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of mechanical fire systems.
- Selecting and specifying appropriate equipment, such as fire pumps, sprinklers, extinguishers, and alarms, considering factors such as fire hazards, occupancy types, and building layouts.
- Overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical fire systems.
- Conducting inspections and audits of existing fire protection systems to identify deficiencies and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Developing maintenance and inspection schedules for fire protection equipment and systems.
- Providing technical guidance and support to clients, contractors, and maintenance personnel regarding fire protection systems.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends, advancements, and changes in fire safety codes and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical fire protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and standards, such as NFPA, IBC, and local regulations.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and hydraulic calculation tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest level of safety and compliance.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering (preferred).
- Relevant certifications in fire protection engineering or related fields (e.g., CFPS, NFPA certifications) (preferred).
