Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in enhancing the reliability, stability, and scalability of production-level systems. You will be responsible for monitoring, automating infrastructure deployment, conducting risk analysis, and ensuring smooth and continuous delivery across the development pipeline. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, EKS, Grafana, AI, Python, and more. You will collaborate with a talented team to continuously improve the platform, with a focus on both DevOps and SysOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

System Monitoring & Automation: Utilize monitoring tools to track system performance and up-time. Set up automated alerts and dashboards (e.g., Grafana) to monitor the health of systems.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate infrastructure deployment using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet, ensuring the efficient and consistent deployment of systems.
CI/CD Pipeline Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions via continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
Performance Optimization: Troubleshoot and resolve issues within production environments, optimize system performance, and ensure continuous tuning for maximum efficiency.
Collaboration & Best Practices: Collaborate with fellow engineers to implement best practices in DevOps/SysOps, enhancing system automation and ensuring continuous improvement.
Security & Reliability: Design, implement, and improve infrastructure and systems that meet high standards for security, reliability, and scalability.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest tools, technologies, and methodologies to ensure you’re always using the most effective and efficient solutions.

Technical Skills & Capabilities:

Solid UNIX/Linux Background: Hands-on experience with Linux/UNIX-based systems.
Configuration Management: Experience with tools such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet to automate system configuration.
Container Management: Familiarity with containerization technologies like Kubernetes.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with tools like Terraform for automated infrastructure management.
CI Platforms: Familiarity with CI tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bamboo, or Travis for seamless integration and deployment.
Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring systems like Prometheus, and Grafana for visualizing system performance.
SysOps Practices: Knowledge of systems operations, including runbooks and best practices for infrastructure management.
Visualization Tools: Experience with ELK, Grafana, or Splunk for visualizing system metrics and performance data.
Certifications (Advantageous): RHCSA/RHCE certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
Problem-Solving: Proactive and able to challenge conventional approaches to problem-solving.
Automation & Deployment: Passionate about system automation and continuous deployment practices.
Communication Skills: Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Diploma in IT or related field, along with relevant industry certifications.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, OR
- 4-5 years of experience with significant exposure to DevOps tools and practices.
Certifications (Advantageous): Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA).
