We are seeking an experienced Production Foreman to manage the daily operations at our Polokwane facility. The role involves overseeing the production of cement/concrete-based products while ensuring that all processes adhere to safety, quality, and industry standards. The Production Foreman will lead a team, coordinate resources, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities

1. Manage the overall operation of production, safety, quality control, and employee training within the business unit.
2. Collaborate with management and sales staff to create and monitor weekly production schedules.
3. Track daily production performance against set targets and make necessary adjustments.
4. Oversee material usage calculations and ensure that raw material orders are placed on time.
5. Monitor machine section capacities and ensure efficient production flow.
6. Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and plant maintenance needs.
7. Address and resolve issues raised by operators to maintain smooth production operations.
8. Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of moulds for consistent product quality.
9. Oversee production techniques, including casting, curing, and handling, to ensure high-quality output.
10. Monitor production flow and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
11. Ensure consistent product quality and on-time delivery to meet customer expectations.
12. Enforce compliance with ISO 9001 and SABS standards.
13. Review daily Quality Control reports and take corrective actions as necessary.
14. Lead team meetings, record minutes, and ensure effective communication with staff.
15. Provide performance feedback to team members and take action for improvements.
16. Train production staff on efficient manufacturing techniques to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
17. Regularly review and assess Key Performance Areas (KPAs) for staff.
18. Conduct routine safety inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations.

Requirements

• Educational Background:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF4).
  • A qualified Millwright (Artisan trade) is an advantage.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in production management or similar field.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a production environment, particularly in the manufacture of cement/concrete products.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and ISO standards.

• Additional Competencies:

  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Health & Safety compliance knowledge.
  • Experience with JDE software is advantageous.
