Faircape Health provides the full continuum of care at six world-class healthcare facilities located on-site at six luxury, retirement villages.
We require the services of an Activity Assistant at our facility Cle Du Cap located in the Southern Suburbs. The successful incumbent will present group and individual activities as prescribed and instructed by the Occupational Therapist.

Duties include but is not limited to the following:
Direct Intervention
- Implement group or individual activities with residents as set out in a weekly programme under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
- Invite and actively encourage residents to attend scheduled activities, fostering participation and engagement.
- Ensure all activities are implemented smoothly, maintaining the residents' engagement and ensuring residents needs/preferences are considered.
- Spend quality time with residents to learn about their hobbies, interests, and personal histories. This assists to tailor activities and strengthen personal connections.
- Print and distribute activity programs as needed, ensuring they are accessible to residents and staff.
- Assist with planning and organizing special events, such as themed days, in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist
- Accompany residents on scenic drives and outings, ensuring their comfort and safety during trips.
- Support the Occupational Therapist in completing assessments such as PAL (Physical Activity Level) or other relevant evaluations.
- Maintain up-to-date records of attendance for individual and group activities.
- Ensure proper documentation of actions taken, care provided and resident-related concerns.
- Complete weekly reports detailing activities and outcomes.
- Maintain daily workflow charting for tracking activities and tasks.
- Provide feedback to the occupational therapist prior to the MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) meetings.
- Plan and allocate time efficiently to conduct individual sessions for residents.
- Perform new resident welcome tasks following established procedures.
- Conduct research to identify new and engaging activities for residents
- Respond to and compose emails as required
Operational
- Ensure activity stock is kept organized and readily available.
- Monitor the condition and usage of wheelchairs, assistive devices or activity equipment, reporting any issues that arise
- Deliver training sessions to carers at the healthcare, ensuring they achieve competency in manual handling techniques and other relevant procedures as instructed by the Occupational Therapist.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
- Matric advantageous
- Recognised care worker training course advantageous but not required
- Introduction to Dementia training advantageous but not required
- Other post - Matric training or qualification advantageous such as coaching, teaching or educare short course
- Background in social sciences is advantageous
Experience
- Experience with geriatrics is advantageous

Working Hours: Mondays to Friday from 08h00 to 17h00, including 2 Saturdays per month from 08h00 to 11h30.
Benefits:
- Salary from R 6,300 Cost to Company per month
- Bonus - Quarterly Bonuses are based on individual performance and company performance. (Bonuses are paid every 3 months)
