We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance & Compliance Manager (Environmental Management Systems) to join our client’s team in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the organization's compliance with environmental regulations and standards while driving governance initiatives to promote sustainable practices and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Compliance:

• Develop, implement, and manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001 standards and other applicable regulations.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental laws, policies, and regulations specific to the oil and gas industry.
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to evaluate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, ensuring timely reporting and resolution of compliance issues.
• Develop and maintain a governance framework to ensure alignment with corporate policies and industry best practices.

Policy Development & Implementation:

• Draft, update, and enforce environmental policies and procedures to minimize risks and enhance operational sustainability.
• Provide guidance and training to staff and contractors on environmental compliance and governance policies.
• Review and integrate governance requirements into business operations and projects.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential environmental risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage incident investigations related to environmental non-compliance or breaches, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management on compliance status and risks.

Sustainability Initiatives:

• Lead efforts to improve environmental performance and sustainability across operations.
• Develop strategies to reduce the organization's carbon footprint and promote energy efficiency.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainability programs and initiatives.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Ensure accurate documentation of compliance activities, audit results, and corrective actions.
• Prepare comprehensive compliance and governance reports for management and stakeholders.
• Keep up-to-date with industry developments and regulatory changes.
