Are you a strategic leader with 15+ years of experience in a regulatory environment?
We're looking for a motivated Regional Lead - Risk to oversee a diverse team in South Africa. This role requires exceptional leadership, a strategic mindset, and the ability to align local operations with regional and global objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the offshore strategy set by the CRO.
- Oversee South African risk team cost reviews and forecasting.
- Provide senior management with regular updates on office progress.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, IT, finance, HR, and facilities.
- Optimize systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy, working closely with onshore offices and IT teams.
- Monitor adherence to procedures within the Oil, Metals, and Coal framework.
- Develop and track KPIs using a reporting dashboard for the office.
- Provide effective leadership to foster a high-performance culture.
- Conduct resource and succession planning in coordination with HR and business heads.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members, ensuring continuous learning and growth.
- Oversee recruitment and team structure optimization.
- Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Oil and Metals offices, identifying synergies.
- Provide senior management with insights into performance and strategic recommendations.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant bachelor's degree.
- 15+ years of leadership experience in a regulatory or risk management environment.
- Background in finance, banking, or risk management is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex priorities.

- Strong leadership and emotional intelligence.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making abilities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to recommend strategic improvements.
- Proactive, flexible, and entrepreneurial approach to challenges.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel to Europe once or twice a year.
