Introduction:

To provide optimal strategic and tactical management for specific categories of product and services within the Procurement division in order to maximise the sales and profitability of a customer-centric business which will ensure that the ranges offered by the company are balanced and appropriate for the target market and support the organisation’s intent to be the leader in the market it serves.

Description:

• Strategy Development: To develop the category strategy that is optimally aligned to market opportunities, the organisation’s vision and business objectives, and the needs of customers within the market/area it serves


• Merchandise Solutioning: To conceptualise, innovate, and operationalise merchandise solutions that drive continuous improvement of product, systems, processes, procedures, and best practice standards


• Financial Management: To develop budget, and effectively monitor and deliver on the financials of the division in such a way that it optimises profitability in terms of the category


• Stakeholder Relationships: To build an effective and professional relationship with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure that business objectives are achieved


• Customer Service: Ensure that customer complaints are dealt with in an effective manner and resolved. Promotions, advertising and all public relations must be co-ordinated for the store in order to enhance the Brand's market share in line with all company procedures


• Collaborative Thought Leadership: To provide inspirational thought leadership within the broader management team with a view of achieving optimal alignment of merchandise strategy and company strategy


• People Management: To lead, develop, motivate, and manage the performance of the team and ensure an optimally skilled, motivated, and high-performance team

Requirements:



Grade 12




Relevant tertiary qualification with a Supply Chain Management and/or Finance and/or Business Administration focus (essential)




Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a Category Management or related area of which at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (essential; Experience of having managed a merchandise or related department/division (essential); Experienced gained in a merchandise/procurement/sales environment (desirable)
