Job Title: Solar Engineer
Location: Johannesburg


Hire Resolve is seeking an experience Solar Engineer to join our client's company in Johannesburg on a full-time basis. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Solar System Design

   • Design solar systems based on client needs, site details, and energy requirements.
   • Create detailed layouts for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects.

2. Product and System Selection

   • Choose the right solar components (inverters, panels, batteries) for each project.
   • Prepare easy-to-follow design documents for the installation team.

3. Site Assessments

   • Conduct on-site visits to assess project feasibility and identify technical challenges.
   • Provide technical support to the team during site visits.

4. System Commissioning

   • Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar systems, both on-site and remotely.
   • Test and validate systems to ensure they meet performance standards.

5. Troubleshooting

   • Diagnose and fix issues in solar systems, including inverters, wiring, and panels.
   • Offer on-site and remote support for troubleshooting.

6. Client Interaction

   • Present solar designs to clients and explain system features.
   • Work with the sales team to communicate the benefits of proposed solar systems.

7. Compliance and Standards

   • Ensure all designs meet local regulations and industry standards.
   • Keep up with new solar technology and integrate improvements into designs.

8. Collaboration with Teams

   • Work closely with installation teams to ensure designs are executed correctly.
   • Provide support during installations to solve design-related issues.

9. Process Improvement

   • Continuously improve design processes for better performance and efficiency.
   • Review completed projects to identify and apply lessons learned.

10. Documentation

• Create detailed reports and maintain accurate records of designs and system performance.
• Keep design documents organised for future reference.

11. Training and Mentorship

• Train installation teams on how to interpret design documents and schematics.
• Stay updated on new tools and software to enhance the design process.

12. Innovation

• Explore and suggest new solar products and technologies.
• Identify ways to improve design efficiency and installation quality.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2 years in solar system design, installation, and commissioning.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PV*SOL, Helioscope).
  • Knowledge of solar system components, electrical design, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with local electrical codes and regulations.
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits.
