The above vacancy exists at our Packaged Gases Central Support Services - Engineering department, Pinetown, reporting to the ESD Engineering Supervisor. Suitably qualified candidates who meet the requirements of this role are invited to apply for this vacancy.

Overview and Key Responsibilities

The Technician will be responsible for performing and ensuring all engineering operations and projects processors within the KZN Region. Key areas of responsibility for this role include but are not limited to:

1. Performing and ensuring the efficient operation of the ESD maintenance and projects section department to meet corporate and legal requirements.
2. Ensuring that all on site installations and maintenance to meet high quality workmanship and of contractors.
3. Always ensuring the highest level of safety EHS&Q requirements to eliminate risk to personnel and property.

Essential Requirements

1. Grade 12 with Maths and Science;
2. A minimum N3 Certificate as a Millwright with Red Seal Trade Tested Artisan;
3. Proven records of Apprenticeship;
4. SAQCC Installer certified (advantageous);
5. Basic Fire Certificate, First Aid Certification, and Working at Heights Certificate (advantageous);
6. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a heavy engineering/production environment within the Gas or related industry;
7. At least 5 years of experience in a Technician capacity;
8. Experience with all levels of customers and suppliers. Dealing with and supervising contractors;
9. Must have good verbal and written communication skills;
10. Must have a valid unendorsed code 08 driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle;
11. Must be willing to work overtime and travel when required;
12. Must be willing to be on standby on weekends and public holidays;

1. Must be willing to travel extensively as when required;
2. Be medically fit to work at heights;
3. Knowledge and experience with ISO & SHERQ systems;
4. Computer literate and Proficient in MS Office Suite.
