Position: Commercial Financial Manager
Our client, in the wine industry, is looking for a Commercial Financial Manager to join their team based in the Stellenbosch area as soon as possible.
Main Purpose:
The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring and reporting on management accounts, analysing financial performance, and driving the efficiency of financial and operational processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and costing within a manufacturing or operations-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting and Quarterly Cost Analysis
- Monitor and Report on Management Accounts: Track and report on the performance of management accounts and trends on a monthly basis, ensuring alignment with overall company strategies.
- Annual Budget Coordination: Oversee the preparation and control of annual budgets, including departmental and CAPEX budgets, ensuring they are accurate and delivered on time.
- Profit Forecasts: Prepare and update profit forecasts throughout the year, analysing variances and presenting solutions to address any potential issues.
- Trend Analysis: Analyse trends in company activities, identifying key factors that impact performance and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Cost of Sales Analysis: Provide monthly reports on variances in cost of sales versus the budget, including dry goods control and other provisions.
2. Financial and Administration Processes
- Process Accuracy: Ensure that all financial processes are completed accurately and in accordance with IFRS for SME and internal accounting procedures.
- Inventory Adjustments: Oversee the monthly inventory adjustments for bulk wine, finished goods (FG), dry goods, and returnables.
- Write-offs Reconciliation: Ensure reconciliation of inventory write-offs is completed and signed off on time.
- Overhead Recovery: Reconcile overhead recovery accounts monthly, ensuring accurate provision calculations.
- Costing Processes: Carry out monthly costing and overhead recovery processes, ensuring accurate costing of items.
- Process Improvement: Review and refine accounting processes regularly to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to company policies.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, IFRS for SME, and company accounting policies.
3. Financial Support
- Commercial Financial Service: Provide timely, accurate financial insights and reports to assist with decision-making and support commercial goals.
- Management Reviews: Participate in management review meetings, offering financial input to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Problem Solving: Assist with day-to-day problem-solving, addressing financial issues or discrepancies as they arise.
- Under/Over Recovery Reporting: Update management on under or over recovery against budget on a regular basis, identifying areas for improvement.
4. Financial Reporting
- Reporting Coordination: Manage the preparation and delivery of key financial information to senior management and stakeholders to ensure informed decision-making.
- Financial Reporting Activities: Co-ordinate all financial reporting activities, including:
- Management Accounts
- Gross Profit Analysis, including corrective actions
- Expense Tracking and Monitoring
- Return on Investment (ROI) Analysis
- Working Capital Management Cycle
- CAPEX Monitoring and Implementation
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Appropriate Accounting Qualification (CIMA, CA, or equivalent) is essential.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance role, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
- Experience in a costing environment, with exposure to operations and manufacturing is essential.
- Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and trend analysis within a commercial or operational setting is preferred.
The position is based in office in the Stellenbosch area and is a permanent full time position.
Location: Stellenbosch
Salary: R40 000 - R50 000 CTC per month. (depending on experience)
Starting date: As soon as possible.
