Job Title: Safety Officer

Location:

South Africa, Northern Cape, Kgalagadi District

Job Type:

5 month Contract, expected to work full-time hours

Job Duties:

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in line with industry regulations
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards
• Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures
• Provide safety training to employees and contractors
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Participate in safety meetings and committees
• Maintain safety records and documentation

Required Qualifications:

• Relevant Safety Diploma
• HIRA/First Aid/COMSOC or SAMTRAC certificate
• Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years working in the mining industry specifically underground mining.

Vertical shaft experience is preferable

Knowledge and Skills:

• Understanding of risk assessment and management
• Ability to develop and deliver training programmes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
