Duties and responsibilities:
• Orientate the student to the facility and the unit as required.
• Facilitate teaching and learning experience in clinical practice and assessment.
• Be available on the clinical site to supervise students.
• Participate in ongoing evaluation of the clinical learning experience.
• Monitor student movements and record keeping in the clinical practice.
• Maintain a portfolio of evidence of own activities and submit monthly or as required.
• Perform other clinical duties as assignments, such as practical sessions in the skills laboratory/simulation.
• Assist in the remediation of students.
• Liaise between the UFS School of Nursing and clinical practice.
Inherent Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in nursing on NQF Level 8
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a professional nurse (General, Psychiatry, Community) and Midwife.
• Qualification in one of the following fields of specialisation: Primary Care Nursing or Occupational Health Nursing
• A minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in the area of specialisation.
• A valid driver's licence.
Recommendations:
• Additional qualifications in Nursing Education.
• Moderators and assessor's course.
• Registration as an assessor with the South African Nursing Council.
• Clinical facilitators or preceptorship course.
• Clinical facilitator experience.
• Master’s degree in nursing.
