Operations Manager
Our client, a prominent player in high-volume manufacturing, is seeking a skilled and motivated Operations Manager to lead and drive efficiencies across their two manufacturing sites. This role is integral to our client’s mission of continuous improvement and excellence in production. Reporting to the Managing Director and collaborating as part of the management board, the successful candidate will shape the operational strategy, oversee daily operations, and ensure alignment with company goals in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership of Production Sites: Oversee and manage two manufacturing sites, guiding approximately 280 staff members, including production managers, team leaders, and operators. Develop and communicate clear objectives to meet and exceed production targets.
Policy and Process Development: Establish and implement operational policies and procedures that promote efficiency, safety, and compliance. Continuously refine workflows to optimize production and cost-effectiveness.
Talent Management and Development: Engage deeply in the Learning & Development and Talent Management initiatives for the production team. Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to encourage a high-performing workforce.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety: Uphold stringent health and safety guidelines, ensuring that all organizational processes meet regulatory standards. Enforce compliance and champion a safety-first culture across sites.
Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage financial aspects of production, including budgeting, forecasting, and efficient allocation of resources to meet strategic goals. Seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or productivity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments such as Sales Back Office, Finance, HR, Maintenance, Engineering, and Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) to align operational strategies with overall organizational objectives.
Quality Control and Performance Monitoring: Implement quality plans, monitor production KPIs, and use data-driven insights to identify areas for process improvements. Maintain a keen focus on quality assurance to uphold product standards.
Supply Chain and Inventory Management: Oversee supply chain processes, including inventory management, production, and sourcing to ensure an uninterrupted production flow. Optimize processes to maintain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Technology Integration: Lead the adoption of new technologies, integrating advanced business processes and systems to enhance operational capabilities and keep the company at the forefront of industry standards.
Reporting Structure:
The Operations Manager will oversee three Production Managers, each responsible for a cluster within the sites in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in addition to collaborating with the centralized Production & Material Planning department and Laboratory and Quality Control teams.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Management preferred); MBA and Six Sigma certification are advantageous.
- 5-8 years of experience in a leadership role as an Operations or Manufacturing Manager within a high-volume production environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Production methodologies and ERP systems (Dynamics 365 is a plus), along with MS Office proficiency.
- Industry experience in mass production (such as steel, polymers, automotive components) and knowledge of plastic extrusion processes are highly regarded.
