The above vacancy exists in our Packaged Gases department at our Midvaal Facility, reporting to the Executive Director: Packaged Gases and Welding. Suitably qualified candidates who meet the requirements of this role are invited to apply for this vacancy.
Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Dissolved Acetylene Plant Manager is responsible for managing and controlling the Acetylene Plant in accordance with the Company’s safety and operating standards and the National and local legislation. Key areas of responsibility for this role include but are not limited to:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant, including products, staffing, and resource allocation.
2. Promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with all safety regulations, and maintain an organized, clean, and well-maintained plant to support efficient and safe operations.
3. Develop and oversee quality control processes to ensure the production of high-quality products, and collaborate with the quality assurance team to identify and address quality issues.
4. Assess the training needs of the plant staff, develop and implement training programs to upskill employees, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
5. Responsible for Industrial relations, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labour laws, and effectively communicating with employees to address workplace concerns or grievances.
6. Responsible for customer service by being the primary point of contact for customers, addressing their needs and concerns, and gathering customer feedback to drive continuous improvement of products.
Essential Requirements
1. Must have Grade 12 with Maths and Science.
2. N4/N5 Engineering related qualification.
3. Production Management Qualification.
4. Additional Engineering/Management Degree or National Diploma will be advantageous.
5. Minimum of 10 years experience in managing Production teams in the Gas Industry.
6. Minimum of 10 Years of experience in leading team(s).
7. Minimum of 5 to 10 Years of experience in Dissolve Acetylene Plant.
8. Must have good IR skills.
9. Must have in-depth knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 14000 ISO 18000.
