Candidate Requirements

Education:

·        Experienced Graduate Mining Professional – preferably a Mining, Processing, Mechanical Engineer, or Mine Planner with strong project and financial management skills (qualification equivalent at NQF level 7).

·        Project management qualifications would be advantageous 

Experience:

·        Minimum of 10 years’ mining operational and project management experience in a senior management position.

·        Experience in large scale, mechanised underground mining, with base metal processing, concentrate production and marketing.

·        Quality and risk management experience required

·        Experience in large capital project management essential 

·        Must have at least 5 years’ experience carrying a legal appointment in a senior management role of an underground mine (e.g. Mining 2.6.1, 3.1 or 4.1 or Engineering 2.13.1 or 2.13.1.2)

·        Experience in executing various types of contract formats such as FIDIC, NEC, Bespoke etc.  

Key skills:

·        Very good understanding of South African Mining and related regulations and the nuances and challenges of local stakeholder engagement.

·        Professional that has successfully completed a Mine Development, Project Management role, in South Africa within the past 10 years. Must have broad experience in mine design and planning, as well as project management within mining projects. 

·        Professional with a well-developed, local South African network of suppliers and service providers.

·        Strong business skills, making use of digital solutions and software to analyse and maximise the returns of the mining enterprise.

·        Proven experience in managing and leading an ethnically and culturally diverse team embracing the broad objectives of transformation in the South African mining industry
