The South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent opportunity available for an Export Administration Manager based inMaydon Wharf KwaZulu-Natal.
This role will be based in the Sugar Markets and Logistics Division.
The marketing, sales and logistics related to South Africa's bulk raw sugar is performed by the Sugar Markets and Logistics Division. The division focuses on achieving maximum net proceeds within an acceptable level of risk. The raw sugar is sold to refineries in South Africa for export, to the near and far East, Middle East and the United States, either directly or through international trade houses. Price risk is managed by hedging the value of raw sugar exports on the InterContinental Exchange ICE US Futures No 11. Bulk raw sugar is exported through the South African Sugar Association's (SASA) Sugar Terminal in Durban and the STAM Terminal in Maputo, in which SASA is a shareholder.
We are seeking to appoint an Export Administration Manager, reporting to the Export and Logistics Executive, who will provide a specialist administrative support role to the export programme.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of the raw sugar export administration function as it pertains to making information available, executing approved actions, measures relating to planning, pricing and trading and freighting functions. A key role will be to implement effective strategies to enhance SASA's reputation with customers and service suppliers and, adding value to the division and SASA by achieving increase in revenue from export sugar, managing risks and reducing costs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The department is positioned to positively contribute to the accomplishment of the strategies associated with the entire export availability of SASA
- Acceptable standards of productivity and performance is maintained and interventions to discipline or, improve or capacitate employees are implemented
- Plans associated with the export of bulk raw sugar to international markets detail the critical deliverables and provide direction on the actions, applications and processes to support accomplishment of the overall strategy and objective
- Net proceeds from the export of bulk raw sugar are realized within an acceptable level of risk through the appropriate use of storage facilities
- Pricing strategies as per mandate or improved values are achieved resulting in the maximization of proceeds from the export of sugar
- Accurate information is made available to enable calculations to be completed and decisions on the Recoverable Price (RV) of sugar cane paid to growers
- A positive perception is created and maintained focused on upholding the reputation of SASA with a diverse range of contacts
- The quality of the information collated, consolidated, arranged and reported on the processes and areas of responsibility add value internally and externally and informs key discussions and decisions relating to the marketing and export of sugar availability
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- A 3-year tertiary commercial qualification with management accounting as a major
- Ideally this qualification should be supported by 5 years' experience in the field of international logistics/freight handling
- Experience in treasury and export trading would be an added advantage
- Applicants would need to be South African nationals with no impairment to their credit or criminal record
