Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Business Development

- Team Leadership and Development
o Manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support personnel across both field services and boiler monitoring operations.
o Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of team members to ensure they are equipped to handle the full scope of responsibilities, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and
o Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with industry standards (OHSAS, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) across both service areas.
Operational Excellence and Service Delivery
- Oversee field service operations, including maintenance planning, execution, and the completion of corrective, preventative, and statutory tasks.
- Ensure 24/7 remote monitoring of boiler systems using the Autoflame Mk8 Boiler System Interface, overseeing critical data such as fuel usage, emissions, and system performance.
- Coordinate real-time diagnostics, troubleshooting, and remote interventions to ensure both field equipment and boiler systems are operating efficiently.
- Ensure all field service and boiler management systems are optimized to minimize downtime, reduce costs, and ensure operational efficiency for clients.
- Project and Budget Management
o Lead project management efforts for both field and boiler services, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
o Create, monitor, and control budgets for field operations, maintenance, and SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), ensuring unnecessary expenditures are avoided.
o Oversee procurement for both service areas, negotiating with suppliers, managing contracts, and ensuring the timely delivery of parts and materials.
Data-Driven Performance Optimization
- Analyse data from both field and boiler systems to identify opportunities for performance improvements, fuel efficiency, and emissions reduction.
- Use historical data (up to 2 years) to generate insights and predict potential issues before they impact client operations.
- Ensure regular reporting and data analysis are provided to clients, detailing key performance metrics such as fuel consumption, emissions control, and operational efficiency.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and operational regulations, including pressure equipment standards (SANS: 347), emissions regulations, and national carbon tax laws.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) across both field services and boiler management, ensuring all operations adhere to safety standards.
- Implement and manage contingency plans to address system failures, operational risks, and any compliance-related challenges.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by introducing new technologies and processes to enhance field service and boiler management offerings.
- Implement new methodologies to streamline operational tasks, ensuring both areas benefit from the latest innovations in diagnostics, remote monitoring, and system optimization.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather feedback, refine service offerings, and introduce enhancements to meet evolving client needs.
Financial and Performance Reporting
- Ensure the financial health of both field and boiler management services by tracking costs, revenue, and profitability across all service lines.
- Prepare and present combined financial and performance reports to senior management, identifying areas for cost optimization, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure monthly reports provided to clients include detailed insights into field services and boiler management performance, highlighting areas for improvement and cost savings.
Client-Focused Solutions and Expert Advisory
- Act as the lead advisor to clients on both field and boiler management solutions, offering expert recommendations on system optimization, maintenance planning, and emissions control.
- Ensure that clients are provided with expert opinions 24/7, with technical support available for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance analysis.
- Provide customized solutions tailored to client-specific operational challenges, helping them reduce downtime, optimize fuel usage, and stay compliant with emissions standards.
Sales and Marketing Collaboration
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop strategies and promotional materials that highlight the value of the combined field and boiler management services.
- Participate in client presentations, explaining technical benefits, operational efficiency gains, and cost-saving opportunities available through the service.
- Build relationships with key industry stakeholders, attending conferences and industry events to promote the combined service offerings.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 4-5 years’ experience withing the Engineering or Projects Industry
- Experience with Boilers, Combustion or Burners or Similar advantageous
- Able to manage multiple projects
- Own Transport & Valid driver’s license
