If you’re a jewellery designer, we have an amazing opportunity for you! We are an upmarket, high-end, fine jewellery store in Sea Point, Cape Town, and our jewellery design team is looking to grow. Day-to-day will include any or all of the following: design consulting with clients on custom jewellery, responding to website quote requests, corresponding with clients via email on design, quotes and advice, designing jewellery for stock, occasionally assisting with sales on the showroom floor if necessary.
You will work with an incredible inventory of diamonds and gems daily, alongside fellow talented designers. You will also work closely with our sales team, marketing specialist, and wholesale diamond department.
You will be the driving force behind each piece you work on, from client consultation/stock design, liaising with our experienced CAD designer and liaising with our on-site workshop through all stages of manufacture including setting and finishing, communicating with industry suppliers and client handover/stock pricing.

Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate would be hands-on, willing to learn, proactive, motivated, calm under pressure and adaptable, preferably bilingual. Several years of design experience would be advantageous, but a newly qualified graduate would be acceptable.
Freehand counter sketching would be an advantage.
CAD design skills are not required, but the ability to successfully convey the orthographic views of a design, either drawing by hand or digitally, is necessary.
Basic diamond and gemstone knowledge is required as you will be educating clients (e.g. 4 C’s, diamond shapes, the suitability of gemstones for certain designs), but you will also learn about this in-depth while on-the-job, over time and with experience.
Other additional duties are:
- Participating with social media content
- Website enhancement
- Marketing
- SEO
- Photography and image retouching if you have knowledge of these.
- Most importantly, the candidate should be well spoken, refined, extremely well groomed, well dressed and confident.
