Purpose of Role:
To manage occupational, health and safety risks relating to business activities through planning, directing and implementing of the organisation’s safety program.
Ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment, to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.
Conduct and report on safety audits and inspection to detect, rectify, and report on unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.
Direct and educate employees, contractors and other stakeholders involved in establishing, promoting, and maintaining the organisation’s SHE program.
Ensure the Health & Safety practices of company meet the highest quality standards, and duties are managed and conducted in accordance with current policies and procedures
Key Accountabilities:
Ensure Employees and the Company comply with OHSA legislation.
Maintain current updates with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
Co-ordinate and implement a comprehensive occupational health and safety program.
Co-ordinate one evacuation exercise per year, to ensure that all staff become familiar with the procedures.
Conduct incident investigation, document and communicated to relevant stakeholders. Make recommendations for changes in equipment and / or processes to correct unsafe conditions.
Liaise with on-site contractors to ensure their compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards, including basic safety induction training.
Compile Risk Assessments / Safe work procedures / Method statements.
Ensure that all H&S policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to, and are regularly reviewed, provide input to updating and communicate where required.
Maintain SHE statistics and report for monthly safety management meeting.
Ensure all training is carried out in a timely manner and recorded accordingly e.g. attendance and other records.
Conduct SupremeServ safety Induction training.
Conduct workshop toolbox talks and maintain records
Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, establish root causes and initiate corrective and preventative actions and report to management.
Ensure all registers, checklist is done monthly and submitted to management.
Monitor and maintain SHE plan action items.
Conduct internal and site Environmental /Health & Safety Audits on safety files.
Compile and update site Health and Safety files timeously to ensure swift Technician on- site availability.
Site visits to resolve queries with safety files; Site compliance audits and monitoring.
Update and maintain all records of all H&S equipment, certifications and equipment related tasks.
Ensure all maintenance issues are addressed.
Conduct evaluations to identify areas of improvement.

Candidate Requirements
Education:Matric
Diploma in Health & Safety Management and advantage
Samtrac course or equivalent.
HIRA qualifications
Registration to SACPCMP will be an added advantage.
Experience:
5 years' experience in a similar / equivalent role.
Experience in conducting Health & Safety Audits.
Experience in office administration, supporting a team
Experience of data management and analysis.
Computer literacy: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Requirements:
In depth knowledge in the development, implementation, maintenance and management of an HSE system
Sound Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.
In depth knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations and By-laws (Implementation and Application)
Sound knowledge and proven construction regulations experience of compiling, reviewing and updating safety files.
Knowledge of OSH Act and Regulations
Sound workshop and Field experience
Knowledge and expertise in training and instructional methods
Strong Organizational, Leadership and Management Skills
Computer literacy, having the ability to utilize presentation, computer and software applications or equipment
Ability to organize and co-ordinate daily work functions
Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
Ability to multitask in the workplace.
