Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet the required standards of quality, safety, and compliance. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in assessing the quality of materials, workmanship, and procedures in various construction projects, ensuring that they align with regulatory requirements and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
· Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
· Develop and maintain budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
· Analyse and report on project costs and financial performance.
Contract Management:
· Draft and review contract documents, including terms and conditions.
· Administer contracts and manage changes to scope, cost, and schedule.
· Handle claims and disputes related to contractual issues.
Procurement:
· Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors.
· Prepare and issue requests for quotations and tenders.
· Analyze bids and recommend contractors or suppliers.
Cost Control and Monitoring:
· Monitor and control project costs to prevent overruns.
· Conduct cost analysis and forecasting.
· Prepare periodic cost reports and financial statements.
Site Visits and Inspections:
· Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to specifications.
· Measure and record quantities of work completed for payment purposes.
· Identify and address any issues related to cost or quality on site.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation.
· Prepare detailed reports on cost and financial performance for stakeholders.
· Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
· Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
· Provide advice and recommendations on cost-related issues.
· Address client inquiries and resolve any issues related to cost and contracts.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in, Quantity Surveying, or a related field and professional registration with SACQSP
· Minimum of 4 years of experience in experience in the contracting and consulting environment
· Relevant certifications and registrations, proven track record of projects engaged
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
· Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies.
· Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Competencies:
· Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including engineers, project managers, and contractors.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
· Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Commitment to maintaining integrity and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
