We are currently seeking a Carer Team Leader to join our team at our facility Bridgwater Manor in Somerset West.
The Carer Team Leader is responsible for guiding a dedicated team of carers, collaborating closely with the supervisor and assistant supervisor to ensure the team achieves performance goals and delivers exceptional care to clients.
This role includes providing constructive feedback and coaching to team members, addressing any issues or concerns within the group, and fostering a positive, supportive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the care team is consistently following patient care plans and completing daily charting accurately.
- Assist and ensure that the carer team performs activities of daily living (ADLs) in accordance with individual care plans to ensure residents' needs are met.
- Maintain constant oversight of the floor to ensure residents are attended to and safe and ensuring that team members are present within their allocated areas.
- Ensure that the care team responds promptly to call and panic buttons, providing immediate assistance as needed.
- Monitor that the carers are following policies, procedures and reporting non compliance to the manager
- Ensures that the carer team are aware of their standby and owed shifts
- Ensure the deployment plan is followed accurately to maintain effective staff allocation.
- Notify the manager of any staff absences promptly to ensure adequate coverage.
- Document and report any incidents to manager
- Identify and report any training gaps among the care team to enhance team competency and care quality.
- Communicate any significant changes in resident conditions that may necessitate modifications to care plans.
- Relay any resident concerns or feedback to the Shift Leader
- Ensure prescribed activities and exercises are carried out by the team to promote resident well-being.
- Adhere to and enforce infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure care standards are upheld
- Ensure grooming photos, including hair, nails, and overall appearance, are taken and uploaded as required
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Qualifications:
- Grade 10 - 12
- Acknowledged carer qualification (advantageous)
Experience and Knowledge :
- Proven experience within a leadership/supervisory capacity
- Understand key principles in caring for the elderly, including:
- Core carer competency skills
- Dementia care
- Palliative care
- Rehabilitative care
- Manual Handling knowledge & skills
- Fall prevention knowledge & skills

- Demonstrated the ability to lead and inspire a team effectively
- Posses a strong sense of responsibility and accountability for team performance and client care

Working Hours: Normal working days are Mondays to Sundays, according to the duty roster. You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month. Day shifts are from 07h00 until 19h00.
Benefits:
- Basic Salary from R 6,500 Cost to Company per month (Your total salary could increase per month due to Sundays work, Public holidays, Quarterly bonuses and additional shifts worked)
- Allowance - Staff would be eligible to receive a R200 allowance should they be called to work additional shifts on short notice.
- Bonus - Quarterly Bonuses are based on individual performance and company performance. (Bonus payments are paid every 3 months)
